My Top Ten Horror Books of 2024 • Out of 40+ harrowing reads!

Another year, another top ten, and yet another where I did not make my goal of 52 books. Close! But not quite.

The top ten surprised me in a few ways, but the very top book was a given for me ~ as with any year, that number one spot just sort of stands out.

I also discuss a few plans going forward, like reading more Richard Laymon, Edward Lee, and Ronald Malfi – all of which feature here. Indeed, there is a Lee book in the mail as we speak, and a few more in the works.

You may see a few books mentioned through the year – or even recently read – that are not in the list. Either I totally forgot them, they were not on Goodreads, or I did not actually finish them. Four honourable mentions that should have been here, with three making the top fifteen are:

All These Steps Lead Down – Nelson W. Pyles
Did You Hear What Eddie Gein Done? – Eric Powell and Harold Schechter
Rare Specimen and Other Stories – S.J. Shank
Acts of Violence: Twelve Tales of Terror – Marcus Hawke
Nineteen Little Stab Wounds – Alexis DuBon

As mentioned, I will be reading along with the #richardlaymonbookclub on instagram curated by @constantreader89! Join in!

Happy New Year to all, and thank you so much for a bookish and spooky 2024.

I talk horror books; extreme horror, classic, slasher, gothic, and everything in between. Helping you find the next best horror book to read is the goal, and sharing new and old horror from my shelves and new releases is how! Horror, nonfiction and even true crime can be found here as I find that human beings are the scariest thing of all.
