Have you ever wondered what goes in to making a Book tube video? I saw Syn at Syn’s Book Nook do this tag and while it is time for the Mid-Year Freak out Tag I am never really freaking out… so here is the Behind the Scenes Booktube tag! I may do a more in-depth video where I talk how my Youtube gear has changed over the years and show more of the office that I film in but these questions are a good starting point.
Here is the Starting a Booktube Channel video that I watched recently and would say is the best primer too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EGZq9mCQLmc
The Prompts:
1. When recording a post, do you read from a prepared script, or do you refer to notes or a broad outline, or do you speak off the cuff?
2. Do you edit before you post, deleting “hems and haws”, misspeaks, mispronunciations, and other common public speaking foibles. Do you remove things you didn’t mean to say, or off-topic thoughts, or comments you think might be misunderstood
3. Have you ever edited a post after posting? Have you ever deleted an entire post?
4. Are there certain topics you avoid, things you regard as too personal or too controversial?
5. Do your posts include graphics, special lighting, music, fast cuts, or other design enhancements?
6. Do you have a target number of posts each week?
7. Are there certain themed posts you contribute to regularly, such as “Poetry Thursday”, or “What Are You Reading Wednesday”?
8. How important to you is the number of your subscribers? Is there a target number you’re hoping to reach? If you don’t hit your target, would you consider dropping out of Booktube? Are your posts designed to attract new subscribers? Are you distressed if you lose subscribers?
9. Do you always respond when tagged?
10. Do you respond to viewers’ comments? Are your responses lengthy or only a thumbs up?
11. Have you ever blocked anyone from viewing or commenting on your posts?
11b. Have you read all of the books that you own? Have you always read every book shown on your channel?
12. Tag or invite others!

I talk horror books; extreme horror, classic, slasher, gothic, and everything in between. Helping you find the next best horror book to read is the goal, and sharing new and old horror from my shelves and new releases is how! Horror, nonfiction and even true crime can be found here as I find that human beings are the scariest thing of all.
